On Friday night St Joe Prep took on the Archbishop Wood in a much anticipated Catholic League showdown. The Prep came into the game undefeated, while Woods only loss came against North Penn. The Prep also looking to obtain a little payback after getting thrashed last season. While Wood turned the ball over twice in the first half in the redzone they did manage to kick a 44 yard field goal from senior kicker Nick Visco. The Prep on the other hand managed very little offense and went into half down 3-0. The start of the second half began with an explosive 99 yard kickoff return by sophomore John Reid. The Vikings would answer in the quarter with a little trickeration, scoring on a 37 yard halfback toss pass, to regain the lead 10-7. After a muffed punt by the Vikings, the Prep would take over on the Wood 40. Looking to capitalize of the turnover the Prep went for it on fourth and 2, scoring on a 32 yard fade to freshman Cameron Chambers. The Prep would go into the fourth quarter up 14-10. The Vikings would continue to struggle with turnovers, fumbling once and throwing 2 interceptions. The Prep would tack on a field goal and another late touchdown by sophomore Olamide Zaccheaus, to solidify the Prep victory. While it was a very sloppy game full of turnovers, the Prep was able to keep their undefeated streak alive. Next up for the Prep is rival the LaSalle Explorers, while Wood will face Lansdale Catholic.
