(Haha, found this on yahoo images)
I have been talking Eagles football non-stop for the last 2 weeks. I can’t wait for this season to start. Here is my prediction for the Eagles season, week by week.
Week 1- Away game against the Cleveland Browns- WIN, enough said. WIN
Week 2- Home game verse the Baltimore Ravens- I am going to have to with a win on this one. First game at the Linc, it will be a close one, but I have a feeling the Birds can pull it off. WIN
Week 3- Away game verses the Arizona Cardinals- This should be a no brainer. I mean the Cardinals don’t even know who their starting QB is yet.WIN
Week 4- Home game against the New York Giants- I am going to chalk this one up as a loss. Most likely Vick will be hurt by game 4 and Foles will be getting his first play as a rookie, and it will be against the reigning Super Bowl champs. LOSS
So at the quarter mark I have the Eagles going 3-1, not bad.
Week 5- Away game verses the Pittsburg Steelers- Another loss here. Should be another close game but Steelers at home with two evenly matched teams; I’ll give them the win. LOSS
Week 6-At home verses the Detroit Lions- This game is not going to be as close as you think. The Eagles should take his one big a good 10 points. Just cover Calvin Johnson and the birds will be fine. WIN
Week 7- Bye week and I am sure Vick is going to need it.
Week 8- Home against the Atlanta Falcons- This should be another close game, and I’ll give it to the Eagles on this one. At home with two evenly matched teams, and let’s be honest, Andy Reid is pretty damn good after the bye week. Win for the Eagles. WIN
Week 9- Away game verses the New Orleans Saints- Once again two teams that look to be evenly matched in the beginning of the season. Who knows what either team will look like when this game is played in November. I will give this one to the Saints. Even though they have had such problems this off-season with bounty gate and they have no one to coach the team. When you have Drew Brees as your QB, it doesn’t take much more to win a game. LOSS
Week 10- Home game verses the Dallas Cowboys. 2 words: Eagles win! WIN
Week 11- At the Washington Redskins- By week 11, RG3 will have some NFL experience and he will most likely be a threat to any team he faces. However, this is still the same old Skins of every year, and with the Eagles D ends being who they are, RG3 can’t run around everyone. Win for the Birds! WIN
Week 12- Home game against the Cam Newton’s…I mean the Carolina Panthers. Yes, he’s a good QB, but they don’t have much else. An aging Steve Smith should have a decent year like always, still not enough to beat the Eagles. WIN
Week 13-Away game against the Dallas Cowboys- I will be fair here. Cowboys win this one in what is a close game on their home field. LOSS
Week 14- On the road verse the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To be honest, I haven’t paid much attention the Bucc’s this off-season. Josh Freeman is a solid QB and Vincent Jackson is always a threat every season. The defense should be good. Ronde Barber moved back to safety and a few new talented CB’s, but I do not see them beating the Eagles. WIN
Week 15- A nice home game in the cold months of December against the Cincinnati Bengals. Andy Dalton and A.J Green won’t be enough to win it for them. Chalk it up as another win for the Eagles. WIN
Week 16- The Washington Redskins come to Lincoln Financial Field. That just means another loss for the Redskins. WIN
Week 17- Away game up at Giant stadium.- I would like to think that the Birds could win this game, it all depends on who is playing for both teams. Who has already clinched a spot, are they fighting for first place or a wildcard position. Either way I will give it the Giants. They always seem to play well towards the end of the season. For example their 2 Super bowl wins. 2 very mediocre seasons, and then some how they turn it on when it matters most and beat teams who had much better records than they did. Oh well, I can’t complain, that’s how sports works. LOSS
So in the end, I have the Eagles finishing the season with an 11-5 record. Maybe a bit optimistic, but they do have a good team. Even if Vick goes down ( more likely when) I will feel confident in Foles. As long as he doesn’t lose the game for the team, than they should be fine. Just hand the ball off to the best running back in the league.
A few games there could be close. The birds could lose to the Ravens, that was a very hard one to pick, and the game verse the Saints they could win, again another tough one to choose. The Giants games they could win, but let’s be honest here, the Giants are the luckiest team in sports so that is why I am giving them the wins.
Alright so that is my predication as of now for the up-coming Eagles season. It will most likely change week to week though depending on who is hurt and who is healthy.
What are your thoughts?
